WHAT IS HOT YOGA?
Hot yoga is…yoga but practiced in a hot and humid room. The idea is to bring the practice back to its roots. India, yoga’s country of origin, has a subtropical climate. That heat helps muscles lengthen and loosen. An example we use in class is: think about plastic. When it’s cold it is rigid and inflexible. However, when a little heat is applied it loosens up and is more flexible. Same goes for our bodies! The heat and humidity allow us to reach the original depth of the pose or asana that was created thousands of years ago.
